I ordered both CDs by this band called The Ditty Bops because of a recommendation from Raise-or-Fold Matt, and that guy knows what he's talking about. That bit above is a verse from "Wishful Thinking," and the words might sound a little depressing, but the song sounds like a dish detergent commercial from 1955. Seriously, go hear it for yourself.

I just sat in the living room, not reading, not talking on the icq, and listened to both albums all the way through. Then I went back and listened to my favorite parts again. I don't know when was the last time that I heard something new that I liked so much right away. Maybe it was Jude, in about 2002 (also recently featured here, in more or less subtle ways).

Actually the second album, Moon Over The Freeway, was just released today. If I was still in LA, I would be tripping over myself to find a way to go to their release party at the Derby tomorrow night.
