On second thought

Wow, if the post on May 4 was a bad idea, the one I wrote last night was spectacularly so. Fortunately I forgot to rebuild the static pages before I went to bed (if the URL you are looking at doesn't go through blosxom.pl, this is a static page). One paragraph survived the round of edits that it seemed wise to make this morning.

That's three girls that I never expected to hear from again, that I have heard from in the last two days. Actually I can make a stronger statement. That's three girls that I expected to never hear from again, that I have heard from, unsolicited, in the last two days. (All right, one of them was sort of provoked by me. But the other two were completely out of the blue.) Was there a meeting? I didn't know making a web page was going to be like Jenny Jones. "And backstage in a soundproof booth we have..."

Relax, I didn't say anything bad about anybody in the first version. Except me, I am my own worst enemy these days. It's hard here and most of the time I don't know why I came.

The weekend was interesting, anyway. A couple people that I had figured were probably too cool to hang out with me came over on Saturday to watch the Serenity dvd on the big screen^W wall. Then I walked over to the Pho Hoa with [not that] Eric, who was primary oncall, which means he got paged, which meant wandering around until we found a street corner with a suitable wireless access point.

I have this plan that one day I'm going to be in some random Starbucks somewhere and overhear some random person complain that Google or gmail is not working, at which point I can lean over in a conspiratorial manner and say, "Don't worry, I'm working on it." That's going to totally rule. (Too bad it will be a lie unless its ads that are down, in which case I don't expect the random person is going to complain.)
